SEF detains six foreign nationals at Faro and Lisboa airports for using falsified documents

The Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) has detained, over the last few days, five foreign nationals, at Faro Airport, caught red-handed for the crime of using falsified documents, when they intended to travel to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Amongst the falsified documents used, identity documents and French, Slovenian, Polish and Italian passports were found.

At Faro Airport only, there has been an increase of 300% in the detection of falsified and counterfeit documents at the exit of the national territory, on the first three months of 2019, comparing to the same period last year.

In Lisboa, at Humberto Delgado Airport, SEF has detained another foreign national at the control of a flight to Stuttgart, presenting a counterfeit identity document issued by Bulgaria.

The counterfeit documents have been handed over in court, together with the detainees.
