The Schengen Information System – and the system’s second generation as well (SIS II) – is a key element of the Schengen cooperation.
There are strict requirements concerning data protection. If personal data on someone are stored, that person has the right to require the access to those data to ensure they have been introduced accurately and legally. Otherwise, the person concerned has the right to submit a request for rectification or deletion of those data.
In Portugal, the right of access, rectification or deletion of personal data in SIS is carried out by CNPD, for which CNPD must be consulted to know the requirements and how the person’s request must be attended.
