Criminal Investigation

Considering the specific competencies in criminal investigation, and based on defined criminal police objectives, priorities and guidelines, SEF has undertaken the prevention and investigation of the following criminal phenomena: trafficking in human beings, aid to illegal immigration, marriages of convenience and itinerant crime.

At the national level, cooperation has resulted in the constant sharing of operational information with other Security Forces and Services and participation in existing operational coordination structures under the aegis of the Internal Security System (SSI), such as Counter-Terrorism Coordination Unit (UCAT).

At the international level, cooperation takes the form of information sharing with law enforcement agencies of other countries or multilateral bodies such as EUROPOL, FRONTEX, INTERPOL, EUROJUST and EASO, as well as participation in Joint Investigation Teams for the investigation of crimes of transnational scope.
