Her Excellency the Deputy Minister for internal Administration, Dr. Dalila Araújo, and His Excellency the Minister of Internal Affairs for Cape Verde, Dr. Lívio Fernandes, have officially opened the PASSE SYSTEM (an automated and safe checking process for entries and exits) in the Airport of S. Pedro e in the Sea Port of Porto Grande in S. Vicente (both in Cape Verde).
The National Director of the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service, Dr. Manuel Jarmela Palos, was part of the delegation.
PASSE is a border control system that, in addition to checking all types of passport, sustains the new version of electronic passports that contain finger prints and allow – amongst other functionalities – the automated control of visas and the validation of the holder against the data bases of SIS, of the Interpol and of Provisional Measures.
This system was developed by the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service and it enables an acceleration and rationalization of means therefore allowing faster, simpler and safer checking procedures of documents and identities, as well as an informatics register of entries and exits, with simple formalities and enhanced possibilities of statistical analysis at Border Posts. The installation of this system is Cape Verde derives from existing cooperation programs between the two Countries.
