Following today’s presented information regarding the detention of the Portuguese citizen Alfredo Morais, and being the Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) since the very beginning monitoring the state of affairs in permanent contact with Lithuanian police authorities and in conjunction with the accurate national authorities, we inform:
The citizen attendant in court in Lithuania was convicted to the penalty of 3 months in confinement for the crime he was indicted in that Country, related with the possession and use of fraudulent documentation.
During this period will take place the compulsory diligences for the compliance and processing of the European detention warrant that was issued by the judicial Portuguese authorities.
Last night, Tuy Police Cooperation and Custom Centre contacted SEF in order to grant information related to the citizen Alfredo Morais, who was arrested in the border between Lithuania and Latvia, by the Lithuanian authorities, on the night of July 7th.
Meanwhile, SEF has maintained permanent contact with the congener Lithuanian authorities, trading information and providing all the necessary elements to the European detention warrant fulfilment, which procedure will take place in accordance with the standards in force in the European Union.
The Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) confirms the detention carried out by the Lithuanian authorities of the Portuguese citizen Alfredo Morais, recently convicted to 7 years in confinement by the Lisbon Criminal Court in the process known as “Máfia da Noite” (“Night Mafia”).
The citizen is at the present moment in a local court, waiting on a decision concerning his situation.
