Press Release - Suspect of aiding illegal immigration and forgery of documents taken into custody

The Aliens and Borders Service (SEF) carried out today an operation in the course of which the main suspect of a likely net of aid to illegal immigration and forgery of documents was taken into custody. Within the ambit of this action, domiciliary search warrants for 7 houses, of which 6 in Lisbon and 1 in Tomar, were accomplished.

Apart from arresting the main suspect, defendant for the crimes of forgery of documents and promoting illegal immigration, and who will be present in court tomorrow, this action enabled SEF to collect various documents and devices all related to the crimes under investigation, including:

- Approximately 50 foreign passports;
- Several dozens of copies of passports and other documents, related to foreign citizens who were fraudulently registered in the Social Security and Finance Office;
- A false Portuguese residence permit;
- Approximately twenty rubber stamps, pertaining to companies, public institutions and some related to embassies of foreign Countries in Portugal;
- Dozens of work contracts and fraudulent wages receipts;
- Dozens of small size photographs of various citizens;
- Informatics equipment aimed at altering / counterfeiting documents pertaining to foreign citizens;
- Dozens of fiscal number cards of foreign citizens form various Countries;
- Several mobile telephones.

This operation was secured by a contingent of approximately 40 inspectors of the Aliens and Borders Service.
